Aamir Khan is one of the most remarkable actors in the Bollywood industry. His career spans over thirty years in the Hindi film Industry.

Best Films Of Aamir Khan

Aamir started his Bollywood career with Yaadon Ki Baaraat and his first film as a lead actor was Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Till date his is giving us ‘nth’ numbers of hit films.

Today on Aamir Khan’s birthday, let’s take a look at some of his iconic films that we all love!

PK:

Playing a kooky looking alien with beady green eyes and a Charlie Chaplin walk might seem like a walk in the park. But to have those eyes extended all the time in PK must really hurt. The hilarious Bhojpuri accentuation and deft touches in movement were great.

Dhoom 3:

Even though his transformation wasn’t too radical, it is right up there with some of his best. The story and screenplay weren’t as taut as Aamir’s efforts but that didn’t stop him from bringing authenticity. Whether it was the bike riding, or the opulent swinging in the circus, Mr Khan had it pinned down like a pro. The double role seemed like a walk in the park.

Talaash:

There’s no rocket science to putting on a police uniform and growing a moustache. But with Talaash, Aamir pushed the envelope a little further. It wasn’t just the appearance, but the subtle mannerisms that did the trick.

Delhi Belly:

He made an appearance that can barely be called a cameo but even then, the thought and effort put into looking like the character, is phenomenal. His main efforts were concentrated into the ‘I hate you but I love you’ song and this Elvis Presley inspired kitsch fest really added the zing.

3 Idiots:

At 44, to convincingly portray a 19-year-old college kid is an argument still going strong. That’s exactly why Aamir will be remembered as a great actor. With its strong content, 3 Idiots would’ve still impressed, but with the lead actor’s efforts, it just elevated a notch higher.

Rang De Basanti:

Again, we’ll reiterate that at 41, Aamir played a young college rebel. Only this time he got the quintessential Delhi mannerisms bang on. Not just that, his role wasn’t even the traditional lead, yet the conviction was spot on.

Lagaan:

Aamir was too polished a persona to ever be considered for a rustic role. But the raw mannerisms and traits of Bhuvan were rendered flawlessly by the skilled actor. In a truly epic setting, Aamir’s efforts to bring Bhuvan’s journey to life was truly fascinating.

Dil Chahta Hai:

The urban youth style, the goatee, the spiked hair – they all became trends of Gen X back in 2001. Dil Chahta Hai’s Aakash was everything a young Indian man wanted to be. Dapper, well-groomed and extremely good looking.

Raja Hindustani:

An ordinary guy from the mountains, with a peculiar sense of dressing and a very strange disposition. Aamir’s Raja Hindustani wasn’t the orthodox dashing hero of the ’90s. He was sensitive, mercurial as well as very likable and charming. One of his most memorable romantic roles till date hands down.

Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak:

In his very first film as the lead actor, Aamir proved he was a total package. He looked refreshingly good, he could dance, he could hold his own in drama and tragedy. His romantic chemistry with Juhi Chawla was priceless. The song ‘Papa kehte hain’ still continues to enthuse its listeners. It was the start of a long and illustrious career.

We at UrbanAsian wish the perfectionist Aamir Khan a very happy birthday. You can let us know about your favourite film of Aamir Khan in the comment section below.

There are so many diseases in the world but the one that has got everyone terrified currently is the deadly new virus – COVID-19 aka the Coronavirus.

corona-virus

The first question that arises in everyone’s mind is – what is Coronavirus?

According to World Health Organization (WHO), Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a new strain that was discovered in 2019 which was previously not identified in humans.

How does Coronavirus spread?

Like cold and flu, the virus is spread via droplets when a person coughs or sneezes. The droplets land on surfaces and are picked up on the hands of others and spread further. People catch the virus when they touch their infected hands to their mouth, nose or eyes.

It follows that the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself is to keep your hands clean by washing them frequently with soap and water or a hand sanitizing gel.

Who started the Coronavirus?

Various crazy conspiracy theories have been circulating that the virus somehow escaped from a Chinese lab, either by accident or design. However, this is categorically untrue and scientists studying its genetic code have linked it to bats. It probably then jumped to another animal, which passed it on to humans.

COVID-19 Outbreak
COVID-19 Outbreak

The number of diseases crossing from animals to humans is growing, and teams of virus hunters are tracking them down.

How did the outbreak start?

The source of the Coronavirus is believed to be a “wet market” in Wuhan, which sold both dead and live animals including fish and birds.

Such markets pose a heightened risk of viruses jumping from animals to humans because hygiene standards are difficult to maintain if live animals are being kept and butchered on-site. Typically, they are also densely packed.

The animal source of the latest outbreak has not yet been identified, but the original host is thought to be bats. Bats were not sold at the Wuhan market but may have infected live chickens or other animals sold there.

Bats are host to a wide range of zoonotic viruses including Ebola, HIV and rabies.

Could the outbreak grow bigger?

It is impossible to say which way the virus will go but, on its current trajectory, it is likely to spread to more countries, affecting many more people. The number of cases is beginning to decrease in China but is climbing in the rest of the world.

COVID-19 Precautions

What are the symptoms of Coronavirus?

Initial symptoms include fever, dry cough, tiredness and a general feeling of being unwell.

How many people have died from the disease so far?

More than 167,000 cases have been confirmed since the outbreak started. The death toll has exceeded over 6,400. The vast majority of cases are in China and Italy, but the virus has spread to more than 100 other countries.

COVID-19 Outbreak

According to data from the Chinese authorities, around 80 percent of cases of the disease are mild, but 20 percent require hospitalization.

Let us have a look at some facts which the World Health Organisation shares and are essential for one to know about the Coronavirus Disease 2019:

1. Diseases can make anyone sick regardless of their race or ethnicity.
Fear and anxiety about COVID-19 can cause people to avoid or reject others even though they are not at risk of spreading the virus.

2. For most people, the immediate risk of becoming seriously ill from the virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to below.
Older adults and people of any age with underlying health conditions, such as diabetes, lung disease, or heart disease, are at greater risk of severe illness from COVID-19.

3. Someone who has completed quarantine or has been released from isolation does not pose a risk of infection to other people.

4. There are simple things you can do to help keep yourself and others healthy.
– Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
– Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
– Stay home when you are sick.
– Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

COVID-19 Precautions

5. You can help stop COVID-19 by knowing the signs and symptoms:
– Fever
– Cough
– Shortness of breath
– Seek medical advice if you develop symptoms: Have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 or live in or have recently traveled from an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19. Call ahead before you go to a doctor’s office or emergency room. Tell them about your recent travel and your symptoms.

Is there anything I should be doing to prepare?

Yes – there are plenty of basic precautions you can take to protect yourself against catching respiratory viruses of this type.

In around 2020, a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe. There are two books that suggest the prediction of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Sylvia Browne wrote in a 2008 novel that a ‘severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe’ around the year 2020 little did she know how eerily prophetic it might become.

However, 12 years on from the prediction, conspiracy theorists have taken to work of fiction to find the answers and are now claiming that the author’s words ‘prophesied’ the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

Sylvia Brown End Of Days

The news took social media by storm when the page of the book was shared by Kim Kardashian, who posted a book excerpt to Twitter before copying it to her Instagram Stories.

Later came in the picture of Dean Koontz’s thriller novel called ‘The Eyes of Darkness’ which has an example of the outbreak of the virus through a scene.

Check out the tweet right here:

According to a leading daily, it’s worth pointing out that in the original 1981 edition of ‘The Eyes of Darkness’, this biological weapon was called ‘Gorki-400’ in reference to a Russian locality. The name of the weapon was changed to ‘Wuhan-400’ when the book was released again in 1989.

It’s true that the current Coronavirus outbreak began in Wuhan, China. But the idea that the virus was created in a lab is actually a conspiracy theory that originated from unverified social media accounts and has since been widely dismissed by scientists from both China and the West.

Dean Koontz – The Eyes Of Darkness

However, experts are still trying to figure out the exact source of the virus, but research indicates that it likely originated in bats and was transmitted to an intermediate host before jumping to people — just like its cousin that caused the 2003 SARS epidemic.

Till then stay safe and for more updates from Coronavirus stay tuned to The Brunette Diaries.

Kangana Ranaut has stole our hearts with her unique acting skills in films like Queen, Gangster, Tanu Weds Manu, Fashion and many more. Be it a small town girl, a drunken lover, a brat or the Queen of Jhansi, this girl can pull it off with ease.

Today, on this special day we bring you some amazing performances that Kangana nailed and we absolutely love:

Gangster (2006)

Kangana made her Bollywood debut in this 2006 crime romance co-starring Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. She aced her act as a disturbed alcoholic caught in the web of deceit and lie while on the run from the law. From her very first movie, this talented debutant proved that she was out to rule to the film industry.

Fashion (2008)

Kangana won the Best Supporting Actress at the 56th National Film Awards for her role as supermodel Shonali Gujral. The journey of Shonali from a successful model, to a drug addict and then her phase into cleaning herself really touched us all. She sure did deserve all the praise that she received for it.

Tanu Weds Manu (2011)

As Tanu, Kangana beautifully played the young girl who wants to marry the (apparent) guy she loves and not her parents’ choice. The complications when she falls for another is a highlight of how good an actor she is. Who didn’t love her performance!

Queen (2014)

This comedy-drama gave Kangana the title that she deserves – Queen. She beautifully played the under confident girl who embarks on a solo honeymoon trip after being ditched by her fiancé at the alter. The way she portrayed the development of this shy girl into a confident young woman who takes charge of her life is worth praising.

Is there anyone out there who thinks anyone else could have played this queen?

Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015)

In the sequel to Tanu Weds Manu, Kangana played a double role. Both characters – Tanu and Kusum – were vastly different in appearance and personality. And she nailed them both! And she very well deserved the National Award she won.

Judgementall Hai Kya (2019)

Kangana played the role of Bobby – a strange wealthy young woman who works as a dubbing artist, in Judgementall Hai Kya. From hallucinating to being in a mental asylum, Kangana got the the nuances of the character on point.

Panga (2020)

In this sports drama, Kangana played a kabaddi player who after marriage and a kid decides to make a comeback to the world of sports. Her sheer dedication towards the sports is evident of her love towards her profession.

We don’t think anyone else could do these roles much better than the Queen herself. Do you agree with us? Tell us which is your favourite Kangana Ranaut movie in the Comments below.

The serial kisser of Bollywood – Emraan Hashmi celebrates his birthday today. The actor, who debuted in the industry in 2003, has made us fall in love with him with his amazing roles.

Today on his birthday, we bring you some of his most amazing dialogues:

•    Aadmi tabhi bada banta hai … jab bade log usse milne ka intezaar kare

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai

•    Joh aadmi limit mein rehta hai … woh zindagi bhar limit mein hi reh jaata hai

Jannat

•    Zindagi ho toh smuggler jaisi … sari duniya raakh ki tarah neeche aur khud dhuen ke tarah upar

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai

•    Jinke apne sapne poore nahi hote na … woh doosron ke sapne poore kartein hai

Awarapan

•    Log apni zindagi banate hai … main apni jannat banata hoon

Jannat 2

•    Raaste ki parwah karoonga toh … manzil bura maan jayegi

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai

•    Life is paise ki tarah hai sirf ek bar kharch kar paoge

Raja Natwarlal

Happy Birthday Emraan Hashmi

The song released in 2013 and even if it is played today we all remember and do the hook step. That’s how amazing and catchy Remo’s choreography is.

Balam Pichkari (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani)

This songs and its catchy steps are a must have during Holi or for that another celebration where friends gather.

Sunn Saathiya (ABCD 2)

The steps in this choreography were a delight to watch as it was the perfect blend of complex moves with grace, charm and beauty.

Deewani Mastani (Bajirao Mastani)

The beautiful formations and graceful moves are forever etched in our minds.

Ghar More Pardesiya (Kalank)

Remo did absolute justice to this classical number featuring Madhuri Dixit and Alia Bhatt.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra has always brought forward a heavy dose of entertainment for his audience and has delivered movies that beautifully portray the inner struggles of the protagonists.

Here’s a list of some movies of Vidhu Vinod Chopra that you can binge-watch in quarantine:

Shikara (2020)

Shikara is based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits and what they faced during the time of Islamist insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir in the early 1900s. The movie takes us through the journey and the struggles of a Kashmiri Hindu couple as they try to survive in dire situations. Vidhu Vinod Chopra successfully showed the audience his versatile vision with this film.

Mission Kashmir (2000)

Who can ever forget the rage Hrithik Roshan and Priety Zinta starrer created in the early 2000s with their chemistry and the beautiful song, Bumbro in Chopra’s Mission Kashmir? The movie followed the journey of Altaaf Khan, whose family is murdered by police officers, and how, after getting adopted by the police chief, he sets out to seek revenge and becomes a terrorist.

1942: A Love Story (1994)

Starring Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala, 1942: A Love Story has been a landmark film in the history of Hindu cinema. The film gives us a heart-wrenching story of Naren and Rajjo who fall in love with each other despite the political unrest created by the British Raj in the year 1942. From a narrative that speaks volumes even today to the songs like Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga that falls into the category of a classic, this film gave the audience everything they wanted and more.

Parinda (1989)

One of the greatest films of the ‘80s, Parinda brought together a crisp storyline along with beautiful nuances that made it a brilliant masterpiece. Following the story of two brothers who got caught up in the world of gang leaders and pay a heavy price to avenge the deaths of their loved ones, Vidhu Vinod Chopra made sure that this unique script translates aptly on the 70mm canvas. With this strong core theme and the added elements of romance, wonderful melodies and the bond of brotherhood, Parinda has found a place in the history books of cinema and rightly so.

Kudos to Vidhu Vinod Chopra for giving the audience such eclectic films to enjoy.
