Sometimes when you wake up in the morning with a feeling of sadness and that’s it, it carries on for hours or days when you don’t even know why you feel the way you do. You just have no idea why as to the sudden feeling of being stressed, you’re overwhelmed with emotions or are simply low on energy and absolutely no will to do anything currently. Well, I don’t know the cause of it but I surely know what can make you feel better. Read on…

1)    Put on clean sheets on your bed

Just trust me, the feeling of new sheets on your bed can make the sadness or cluster of emotions flush down the toilet. No one likes laundry, but neither can deny the fact how comfortable, happy and relaxed clean sheets can make you feel. The freshness of a new or washed sheets gives a fresher sense of vibe to you. Don’t believe me, just try it!

2)    Do some kind of sweaty workout

Any workout works as long as you perspire a lot. Yoga, running, sex, dancing or even running around your apartment, anything! Maybe take a long walk down the road and get sweaty. Doing something energetic makes you feel alive within, the laziness goes away, you just gotta get that ass off the couch and get going.

3)    Dry brush your skin

Just like brushing the fur on your pet, dry brushing is great. I can’t say that it definitely reduces cellulite as many claims, but it does remove ashiness, which works too. Don’t forget to take a soft brush, or else you might end up hurting your skin with a tough brush.

4)    Take a shower

A long bubble is all you need at times. You can cry your eyes out, or listen to soft music and enjoy all the tension to wash off along with water. You do whatever you feel like during your bath, go ahead and shave while you’re at it, but remember to leave your worries once you leave the bathroom.

5)    Wear new clothes

The same principle as clean sheets, wearing new clothes to work or even when you go down to buy groceries can make you feel new within. Getting dressed up makes you feel confident, it does take the stress away, believe me, I dress up every Monday just to keep the Monday blues away.

Go try it, I’m sure you’ll come back to leave a “thank you” comment below <3

Add a little spice to your life”, is what we hear from people whenever our life gets boring; same is with food. To make any dish delicious, we add spice. Spices are simply the best thing in the world. It can make any food item so exciting, like Christmas in your mouth. Spices, not only do they add a touch of flavour and warmth into our food but many of them also have secret superhero abilities. The power to heal, to improve and to help us feel healthy both inside and out.
But what are these super spices and how exactly do they have an impact on our bodies?

1) Turmeric

Turmeric, the spice that gives curry powder its yellow hue, is used in Indian medicine to stimulate the appetite and as a digestive aid. But lately it’s grabbing some serious attention as a potentially powerful cancer fighter. The chemical responsible for turmeric’s golden color, called curcumin, is considered a top anticancer agent, helping to quell the inflammation that contributes to tumor growth and working in much the same way as broccoli and cauliflower to clear carcinogens away before they can damage cellular DNA and to repair already damaged DNA.

2) Cinnamon

Cinnamon is highly concentrated with the very potent antioxidant polyphenols. This high potency as an antioxidant allows for cinnamon to also be a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. It has also been linked to improving heart health, blood sugar reduction and having a powerful anti-diabetic effect. Cinnamaldehyde the main active ingredient in cinnamon may also help to fight various types of infection. It has been used to treat infection of the lungs by fungus, and can also inhibit the growth of certain bacteria, including Listeria and Salmonella.

3) Black Pepper

Putting black pepper on your food can be the easiest most affordable way to increase your health. As our food’s nutrient values decline and supplement costs increase using black pepper is a great way to maximize our nutrient absorption. Piperine is the main alkaloid found in pepper responsible for its remarkable ability to increase the bioavailability of nutrients and supplements. So dash on that black pepper! It is allowing for more of those vital nutrients, and vitamins to be absorbed by your body.

4) Rosemary

Rosemary is also a rich antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. However, it is more notably known for its link to neurological protection. Carnosic acid, found in rosemary has been found to fight off free radical damage in the brain. It has also been linked in keeping the brain from aging, and enhancing memory and concentration.

5) Ginger

When it comes to settling any digestive issues, our mothers always turn to ginger. However, what they may not realize that this popular spice can also help when you feel the burn after a workout. Studies have shown that people who consume just one teaspoon of ground ginger a day for 11 days saw a 25% reduction in the pain they felt after a workout. This is because it contains gingerol, a chemical that is thought to reduce inflammation and block pain signals being sent to brain.

6) Coriander

Coriander seeds yield cilantro, a staple herb in Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indian cooking. The seeds have been used for thousands of years as a digestive aid. Try making a strong tea from crushed seeds (strain before drinking). The herb can be helpful for some people with irritable bowel syndrome, as it calms intestinal spasms that can lead to diarrhea. Preliminary studies in animals support another traditional use for coriander-as an anti-anxiety herb. Its essential oil appears to fight bacteria, including E. coli and salmonella. It’s also being studied for its potential cholesterol-reducing benefits and has been shown to lower cholesterol in animals.

7) Fenugreek

Due to its estrogen-like properties, fenugreek seeds have been found to help lessen the effect of hot flashes and mood fluctuations that are common symptoms of menopause and PMS. In India and China it has also been used to treat arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, improve digestion, maintain a heathy metabolism, cure skin problems (wounds, rashes and boils), treat sore throat, and cure acid reflux. So a definite all rounder.

Hope these secret powers help you lead a healthy life 😀

People usually want to lose the fat but are concerned about losing the pretty lean muscle tissue along with it while dieting. Here we give you tips on how to keep the lean muscle tissue and burn away fat.

Eat 5-6 smaller meals per day

To burn fat and keep muscle, you must not reduce your calories too much. Divide the number of daily calories your body needs into small meals spread throughout the day, rather than eating two or three large meals. This way your body receives a steady amount of the fuel it needs to maintain lean muscle mass.

Stack on protein

Stack on protein to maintain muscle

Your muscles need fuel to sustain itself. By having a protein rich diet, you are fuelling your muscles and telling your brain to stay away from muscle instead of stealing muscle for the energy deficit during a diet. If this happens, then your body is only going to use stored up fat to fuel your bodily functions and stay away from muscle. Good sources of protein include nuts, chicken, pulses and egg whites.

Maintain strength

Weight training must be adjusted appropriately

During a calorie deficit diet, you must not reduce the weight you carry. Your muscles need to be worked to sustain itself during this period of draught. By working your muscles, you are telling your body, once again, to use only fat to make up for the calorie deficit and stay away from muscle.

Reduce weight training volume

You need to maintain strength, but a caloric deficit is really an energy deficit, and while this is fantastic for losing any amount of body fat, it is not good for anything that is workout related like recovery and performance. Hence, even though you are maintaining strength, it is important to reduce volume/frequency of your workouts to facilitate proper recovery.

If you manage to do this, then you can reduce fat and maintain muscle. However, if you are lost on how to begin with this module straight away, check out how you can kickstart your weight loss plan.

Winter is here and everyone loves to sleep in the comfort of their blanket during winter. It is the best time of the year when we get good sleep and don’t feel like doing anything, have a warm coffee or tea or some hot chocolate and binge on to something yummy.

We even get an excuse of not workout or skip workouts because we don’t feel like or basically feel lazy. But whether it be winter, rainy or summer or how much busy you might be one must never miss their workout. Be it for an hour or even half an hour. Working out doesn’t only mean going to the gym but you can do any physical activity like dance, jog, walk, play sports.

So let me list down 5 main benefits of working out:

1.    Boost happiness levels

The most important thing that we need in our life is happiness. We’re always looking for how to be happy. And exercise is one of the most obvious steps to take, as it’s not a coincidence that you feel better after a good workout. Working out can make you happy long term adding extra intensity can make you feel even better.

2.    Sweet Dreams:

Exercising helps to sleep peacefully. Exercising can help keep you more bright-eyed during the day and bring on sleep at night. You will get a sound sleep. The reaction won’t be instant but after 2 days or so you will experiment it. So exercise and say bye bye to those dark circles.

3.    Improve memory:

Exercising regularly can help jog your memory. You don’t need to have almonds every day in the morning to boost your memory. A walk or any physical exercise daily is enough to improve your memory.

4.    Bye Bye Stress:

Work stress is the most common thing nowadays. But you can say bye bye to it by working out. It is found that those employees who worked out before work or even after work reported feeling less stress and being happier and more productive than days when they skipped a workout.

5.    Live longer:

Keeping your body happy and healthy to help you live a longer, fuller life is one of the biggest benefits of exercising. According to reports, exercising for just 10 minutes a day, or 75 minutes a week, can earn you an extra 1.8 years. The more fit you are, no disease can harm you then.

There are more benefits but these 5 will be enough for you to start working out. So don’t just sit in front of your phone, laptop or TV, go out and refresh yourself and have a healthy mind and body.
